A host of leading Irish businesses have been shortlisted for one of the highest environmental awards an Irish organisation can achieve.

The Repak Resource Awards recognise businesses, community groups, educational institutions and organisations that are delivering meaningful environmental impact.

This year's shortlist spans 13 award categories, recognising initiatives ranging from recycling and resource recovery to environmental education, packaging design, waste prevention and single-use plastic reduction.

Meanwhile, a brand-new category celebrating the ‘Sustainability Team of the Year’ highlights organisations across the country that are embedding sustainability in their day-to-day operations.

The winner of each of the 13 categories will progress to compete for the Overall Repak Resource Award, one of Ireland’s highest environmental accolades.

Environmental leadership

Repak CEO Zoe Kavanagh said the 2026 shortlist highlights the “ambition and innovation” many Irish businesses are showing in a bid to deliver meaningful environmental impact.

“From community-led initiatives and education programmes to new approaches in recycling, reuse, packaging and resource recovery, this year’s finalists have really stepped up to the plate in terms of environmental leadership,” she said.

“We congratulate all of the shortlisted entrants and look forward to celebrating their achievements at this year’s Repak Resource Awards.”

Green initiatives

This year’s nominees include businesses and organisations across the country – from a Blessington community allotment championing growing, reuse and sustainability to a North Dublin fresh food company working to develop fully recyclable packaging solutions.

Roscommon Women’s Network CycleUp Textiles has been shortlisted for its work transforming unwanted and unsold textiles into new bags, accessories, clothing and homeware.

To date, CycleUp has diverted more than eight tonnes of textiles, generating an estimated carbon saving of 65 tonnes and engaging more than 600 people through training and workshops.

PAX Whole Foods & Eco Goods in Mayo, one of Ireland’s largest refill and sustainable goods shops, has been shortlisted for its work on reducing waste through reuse while supporting Irish growers and makers.

Repak said the company’s approach demonstrates how refill shops can make lower-waste choices more accessible to communities while helping to embed reuse into everyday shopping habits.

Clare-based IFF Plastics, meanwhile, has been shortlisted across three award categories after seeing significant growth in its recycling operations.

The company has grown from recycling 50 tonnes of plastic in 2019 to more than 1,000 tonnes a year today – transforming locally recovered plastics into durable new products.

Some of the other major Irish businesses shortlisted for awards this year include Lidl, Panda, DAA, AIB and An Post.

The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony held in The Round Room in the Mansion House on Friday 23rd October.
