Nintendo have been promising a new console for a long while now, but I don't think anyone expected this.

The gaming titan has announced the NES Classic Edition, an updated version of one of their first consoles, the Nintendo Entertainment System.

This isn't your parent's console though as it comes with a HDMI connection and 30 classic games built-in, including Super Mario Bros, Donkey Kong, and Pac-Man.

There's also a classic NES controller that comes with the console. That controller will work with a Wii too, letting you play classic Nintendo titles on the Wii's Virtual Console.

The games built-in feature the same classic gameplay, but include multiple save points so you can resume your game where you left off rather than having to start over again like your originally had to.

Nintendo is continuing to cash in on nostalgia with this release. After a week that saw the world playing Pokemon again, they've now re-released the childhood of a lot of gamers by putting the NES back on shop shelves.

The NES Classic Edition will be on sale in November for around €60.
