Regardless of whether you watch American late night TV or not, chances are you've watched or at the very least, heard of, James Corden's Carpool Karaoke. The British presenter took over the slot from Scottish born Craig Fergus in March 2015.

The show is similar to many of the other late night talk shows in that Corden features celebrities, who are eager to promote their new movie, single or make up range. He tends to use the Graham Norton method, however, by grouping guests on the couch together, rather than one on one interviews. While his interview style is fun and entertaining, it's by no-means stand out.

Corden began to make waves when the first Carpool Karaoke segment went live online. The bit originated back in the days of 'Gavin and Stacey', the TV show which Corden wrote and starred in. 'Smithy', played by Corden, was joined in the car by George Michael and the pair sang their hearts out.

There's no denying the entertainment value in this.

It made perfect sense for TV network CBS to try and bring some of that magic to fans of the new Late Late Show. Corden explains it's evolution to Stephen Colbert, host of The Late Show.

Since airing on CBS, Corden has had some of the most famous faces in the world sitting in his passenger seat. Everyone from Justin Bieber and Adele to Stevie Wonder and, most recently, Michelle Obama have bopped away on the commute to work.

Apple:

Never one to let an opportunity pass, Apple Music will now exclusively host a 16-part series based on the skit, according to Deadline. Subscribers to the service will receive a new episode each week.

While it's not quite clear what form an 'episode' will take just yet, it's probably safe to say that it will be a roaring success. At this very moment in time, the Carpool Karaoke video featuring Adele has 1119,304,852 views. That's just one of the many popular videos on The Late Late Show's YouTube channel. Corden recently spoke about the importance of those numbers.

“I genuinely couldn’t tell you how many people watch our show, because I feel like in this slot, we’re not really in the ratings business, we’re just in the relevance business. My major ambition is just to stay relevant. That’s it, to be in the conversation – that’s all that was ever asked of us really,” Corden said.
