Fianna Fail says that every mortgage holder in Ireland is entitled to the same level of protection from the law.

It comes as the party raises concerns for 10,000 mortgage holders whose home loans were transferred to unregulated lenders.

Fianna Fail says it wants this matter dealt with in the Dail as soon as possible.

The party says that some mortgages taken out from banks - including the IBRC - and sold on to unregulated lenders are not protected by a code of conduct.

It says the issue of the transferal home loans to unregulated entities needs to be urgently dealt with.

Fianna Fail finance spokesman Michael McGrath says that the fact that these lenders are voluntarily complying to the code does not give mortgage holders enough security.

Mr McGrath says the Dail needs to begin working to ensure these mortgage holders are given sufficient protection by the state.
