SIPTU is warning that industrial action at Dublin Bus could take place within the next two weeks.

The trade union's organisers are to meet today to discuss their plans, after 95% of members voted in favour of going on strike in their row over pay.

Drivers want the same salary as Luas staff, who got a wage hike earlier this summer.

Owen Reidy, SIPTU Divisional Organiser, said:

"We'll be prepared to take industrial action of 24 to 48-hour stoppages. And also we'll be prepared to consider all-out strike action.

"So unless Dublin Bus come to the table and are prepared to do something creative and reach an agreement with us in the next week or so, I would anticipate that you would have some form of action probably within the two weeks."
