If you got a new phone for Christmas, chances are it was an iPhone. Over half of all devices activated on Christmas day were Apple products.

The company's closest competitor was Samsung who only made up 17.7 percent of all activations. Nokia accounted for 5.8 percent, while less than two percent were made by Sony and LG.

Flurry commented that Apple had a "blockbuster holiday season," while the rest of the market for consumer electronics was "lackluster."

Other prominent manufacturers including Xiaomi, Huawei and HTC made up less than one percent of total activations. Flurry, the firm who complied this data, comments that this is because of their focus on Asian markets where Christmas causes less of a spike in demand.

Other than Apple's dominance - the other main trend this Christmas was a migration from tablets to hybrid phone and tablet (phablet) devices.

The share of the market that phablets occupy increased by more than 200 percent when compared to Christmas 2013.

Demand for full-size tablets experienced a major decrease - falling form 17 percent to 11 percent.

The report also says that 2014 was the year users finally spent more time viewing content on mobile devices than they did watching televisions.

Flurry predicts that Apple will continue to dominate in 2015 - and that more users will move to phablets.
