Samsung will unveil their first flagship device since the Note 7 debacle last year. It's thought that the new phone will be the Galaxy S8 and there's no shortage or rumour and speculation as to what features the device may have.
The following email was sent out to consumers, registered on the Samsung website.
From this, we know the new phone will be a Galaxy model and will be unveiled on the 29th of March. A short teaser video is also on the firm's website, featuring the same tag-line as the email; "Unbox your phone".
Some of the rumours floating around include:
- A much narrower bezel and bigger, dual-curved display
- Ultra-high-def 4K resolution
- Virtual home-button or located on the rear of the phone
- Facial recognition and iris scanning
- Dual rear cameras
- Headphone jack
- USB-C port
- Color options including black, white, blue, gold and silver
All eyes will be on the battery, given what happened to the Note 7. Samsung say they will put their batteries through an 8 point battery safety check. This includes X-ray, durability and accelerated usage tests.
