An investigation has been launched in Limerick after a woman was found with stab wounds after her 3-year-old son and his father were killed in a car crash.
The head-on collision happened at 8.30am this morning near Pallasgreen.
Gardaí are treating the deaths of Marco Velocci and his 3-year-old son Alex James as a suspected murder/suicide.
Around 8.00am this morning, Mr Velocci called to the home of his ex-partner Jodie Power in Oola, Co Limerick.
She was apparently assaulted, sustaining minor stab wounds.
Mr Velocci then left with his son in his car, a black Volvo estate, which was seen a short time later veering across the N24.
It collided head-on with an articulated lorry, killing Mr Velocci and his son instantly.
The lorry driver was not injured.
Post mortem examinations are to be carried out tomorrow, as the garda investigation continues.
