Google Maps has started to highlight which locations in cities across the globe are wheelchair accessible.
Under the about tab where you’ll find out about the location, such as a bar, tourist attraction, etc, it will now say if it’s wheelchair accessible or not.
The addition is slowly rolling out because, as you might guess, there’s an awful lot of locations on the map for Google to go through. The updated info will come from the actual humans who attend these locations and send information back to Google that is added to their data.
It may appear just a small update, but it will have a deep impact on improving accessibility for both Google Maps, who will now be used by wheelchair users around the world, and by wheelchair users themselves who can plan with certainty which locations will be accessible by them.
