Coveney confirms Ireland's application for seat on UN Security Council
The Minister for Foreign Affairs has confirmed that Ireland will apply for a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council.
Addressing the UN General Assembly on Saturday, Minister Coveney highlighted the need for countries to work together to overcome adversity – and pledged Ireland’s support for reform efforts aiming to make the UN “more effective and representative.”
Taking aim at the current make-up of the UN Security Council, Minister Coveney warned that UN political institutions must better reflect today’s world.
North Dublin principal calls for defibrillators for all schools after helping save boy's life
A north Co Dublin principal is being hailed as a hero after helping to save a 9-year-old boy who collapsed in the yard.
Tim O'Tuachaigh started CPR and sent for the defibrillator during the incident earlier this month.
The device had been donated by Apache Pizza to the local GAA club in Rush.

INTO members call for immediate industrial action ballot

It comes after the union was forced to deny reports yesterday that it had accepted the new public service pay deal.
The union had originally recommended that its members reject the deal – as it failed to address the pay equality issue.

The brother of missing woman Fiona Pender is calling for a full garda review into his sister's case.
Fiona was 25-years-old and seven months pregnant when disappeared in Tullamore on 22nd August 1996.
Gardaí believe she was murdered, however no trace of her has ever been found.
