A man has been arrested after gardaí in Dublin seized more than 29,000 cigarettes and a car during searches.
They were carried out under a warrant on an apartment in the Finglas area and a retail premises in Dublin city centre.
Revenue officers seized the cigarettes and a car in which they were being transported.
The combined retail value of the cigarettes, branded 'Marlboro' and 'Double Happiness'. is €15,330.
Revenue say this represents a potential loss to the exchequer of some €12,200.
Officers were assisted by members of An Garda Síochána, who arrested a man in his 30s at the scene.
A quantity of controlled drugs valued at over €8,000 were also discovered.
The searches were part of an intelligence-led operation, targeting the illegal importation and distribution of contraband cigarettes within Dublin.
Revenue say investigations are ongoing with a view to prosecution.
