Al Gore will open the 2017 Sundance Film Festival with a sequel to his Oscar-winning documentary on climate change, An Inconvenient Truth.
Paramount Pictures announced Friday that the former vice president's world climate crisis sequel will open the festival, beginning January 19 in Park City, Utah.
The follow-up comes 11 years after the original, which won two Academy Awards - Best Documentary and Best Original Song - and grossed over €47 million globally.
The as-yet-untitled follow-up is being produced by activist studio Participant Media, and directed by Bonni Cohen and Jon Shenk. It follows Gore's continued fight to save the planet.
Paramount will distribute the film sometime in 2017.
