Two people have been arrested after an airline passenger spotted another passenger "texting about sexually molesting young children", police in the US have said.
The incident happened on a flight from Seattle, Washington to San Jose, California.
A male passenger - who police in San Jose named as Michael Kellar - is said to have been using a large smartphone with enlarged font when sending the alleged messages.
After the passenger who spotted the texts alerted the flight crew, police officers at San Jose airport responded and detained the suspect.
In a follow-up investiation, police have alleged that an "adult female suspect in Tacoma, Washington, engaged in inappropriate sexual texts with Kellar".
Two children - aged 5 and 7 - are said to have been identified as victims.
A female suspect named Gail Burnworth was taken into custody in Tacoma by officers from Seattle.
Police say Kellar faces charges of attempted child molestation and solicitation of a sex crime, while Burnworth faces charges including sexual exploitation of a minor and rape of a child.
Speaking to NBC Bay Area, police described the alleged text messages as "disturbing", while hailing the unnamed woman who alerted authorities as a "hero".
