International dancing show 'Dancing with the Stars' is coming to Ireland from next year.

RTÉ has confirmed the international version of the UK's 'Strictly Come Dancing' will air in early 2017.

It will see 11 well-known celebrities paired with professional ballroom dancers, who will compete each week by performing one or more choreographed routines.

It will replace 'The Voice Of Ireland' after five series on RTÉ One.

'Dancing with the Stars' has been licensed to over 50 countries - including South Africa, India, New Zealand, Italy, USA and Columbia.

Who is in the line up for 'Dancing with the Stars'?

Adrian Lynch, channel controller for RTÉ One and RTÉ2, said: "We are delighted to be bringing such a hugely popular format as Dancing with the Stars to RTÉ One."

"The show has been a global phenomenon, attracting huge audiences wherever it has aired and we are confident that Irish audiences will take this home-grown version to their hearts."

Sam Tewungwa, commercial director of TV sales for the UK and Ireland at BBC Worldwide, added: "We're thrilled that RTÉ will be airing Dancing with the Stars, as this format is loved all across the world."

"We continue to get such great feedback from every country where it airs, so we can't wait to see how the Irish audience respond to it."
