When he was growing up in Iraq, Zak Moradi knew little of Ireland, let alone Co Leitrim or hurling.

But fast-forward to the present day and Moradi is an inter-county hurler with Leitrim and was part of the team that reached the Lory Meagher Cup final in 2017.

It's been quite a journey from growing up in Saddam Hussein's Iraq in the post-Gulf War era to life in Leitrim's hurling panel and he joined Joe in studio to lift the lid on that and everything in between in his remarkable story.

Moradi spoke about the experience of being born in an Iraq which had already become involved in a long and attritional war with neighbour Iran before the Gulf War at the dawn of the '90s and the internal repression that followed.

He also discussed how the move to Ireland came about, how he first became acquainted with hurling and then the Leitrim inter-county setup.
