All eyes return to action on the pitch this evening.

After all the headlines about Roy Keane and Harry Arter, about Stephen Ward's leaked Whatsapp message and about disquiet within the camp, the public will finally get to see what improvements have been made since last Thursday's drubbing at the hands of Wales.

You can't imagine that any improvements made will be seismic. Martin O'Neill could conceivably line-out one of the most inexperienced sides in recent years. Expect the worst.

With the talk focused on Keane, Philip Quinn of the Irish Daily Mail gave his verdict on O'Neill's press conference in Poland ahead of the game.

"There weren't any questions about the match last night," he told Tuesday's #OTBAM.

"If this was a regular hum-drum friendly, I think O'Neill would have been a lot more in the spotlight about those last results (defeats to Denmark and Wales).

"The Keane thing enabled him to deflect and get away from it. He to deal with Keane last night.

"I actually thought he would have issued a small statement and said 'The FAI are aware of (the Stephen Ward) audio and are currently handling it from within.'

"To be fair to him he took questions on that but there was no talk of the game."

A blessing, perhaps, for O'Neill that he wasn't faced with further questions of their defeat in Cardiff or how they plan to stifle Poland's talisman, Robert Lewandowski.

The time has come to park the controversy and concern ourselves with matters on the pitch.

Kick-off tonight is at 7.45pm.
