Online pick of the week

Gilmore Girls, Season 1-7 on Netflix, reunion episode the 25th of Nov.

Ahead of the release of Netflix's four-episode reunion of Gilmore Girls, They've just released season 1- 7 for your catch-up pleasure. Lorelai and Rory haven't changed a bit, quick and witty sarcasm galore. It looks like the show is gaining a cult following too lately so you better make sure you're on top of it.

 

Picks of the week

Close to the Enemy, Thu 10 Nov at 9:00pm on BBC TWO

The first of two WWII period dramas that hit our screens this week, Close to the Enemy tells the story of a German scientist and his daughter who have been captured and brought to England to help the RAF develop the jet engine. It's an incredible cast, starring Jim Sturgess, Phoebe Fox, August Diehl, Lucy Ward and Robert Glenister.

 

My Mother and Other Strangers, Tue 08 Nov at 10:15pm on RTÉ ONE or Sunday 9pm on BBC One, 

This new drama is set in Northern Ireland during the Second World War, and is written by Barry Devlin (also of Horslips fame). A US airfield of 4000 American service men and women is positioned amongst a rural community, and the story focusses on a British woman who's torn between her Irish husband and an American air force officer. Another stellar cast, including Aaron Staton (Mad Men), Owen McDonnell (Single-Handed), Eileen O’Higgins (Brooklyn), Des McAleer (Hunger), Ryan McParland (The Survivalist) and Kerr Logan (Game Of Thrones).

 

Film of the week

The Guest, Friday, Film4, 9pm

A soldier introduces himself to the Peterson family, claiming to be a friend of their son who died in action. After the young man is welcomed into their home, a series of accidental deaths seem to be connected to his presence.
