With the latest in the Bond franchise set to make waves as it hits screens on October 26th, The Picture Show caught up with director Sam Mendes to chat about the blockbuster new movie.
Spectre is set to be a huge final appearance for Daniel Craig as the iconic James Bond character, but Mendes reveals that when he first heard that Craig was in line to be the next bond, he "thought it was a terrible idea".
Having worked with him years earlier and given him his first big movie role in Hollywood on Road to Perdition, Mendes felt that Craig was totally wrong for the role, as "Bond was something completely different".
However, he does add that he didn't know they had plans to change the franchise and alter what Bond was to "match the performance" of Craig, and the two ended up being a perfect fit.
The Picture Show has plenty more movie interviews, news and reviews every Saturday from 6pm.
