Direct Democracy is Ireland’s newest political party, and they have little interest in following the example of the traditional political parties, instead working to establish itself as an alternative to main stream politics.
The party advocates a new political service and puts itself forward as a party aimed at restoring the provisions of direct democracy to the people of Ireland.

Ben Gilroy stood for election in March’s Meath By Election, securing a total of 1,793 votes and finishing ahead of Labour candidate Eoin Holmes.

Gilroy joined Pat on Wednesday’s show and discussed bank debt, oil and gas reserves, voting systems and the aims of Direct Democracy. Gilroy’s appearance got a big, and strong, response from listeners.
