Parents all around Ireland are still reeling after the horrific sexual attack on two young girls aged 6 and 9 in Athlone on Saturday.

A 30-year-old man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has today been charged with four counts of rape.

There was a large Garda presence outside Longford District Court ahead of this morning's court appearance following on from the huge crowd of people who gathered in protest outside Athlone Garda station last night.

Are parents right to be fearful or is this a very unusual case? And what can parents do to best protect their children?

On this morning's programme, Ellen O'Malley-Dunlop, CEO of the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre, shared advice for parents on how to educate their children on 'stranger danger':
