Murray mania has gripped Britain in the build-up to this afternoon’s Wimbledon final, as a pair of tickets for today’s duel betwen Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic have been sold for more than €97,000.

This price for the pair of tickets in question was over €82,448, but this did not include the booking fee paid to the online ticket reseller. When this fee is added the total cost of two tickets to today’s final reaches €97,290, according to the Daily Telegraph.

The Guardian reports that Viagogo – a ticket resale website – has seen record prices, as people desperately scramble for the opportunity to see Andy Murray become the first British men’s champion at Wimbledon since Fred Perry triumphed in 1936. Tickets are now trading for 322 times their face value of £260.

Viagogo expect the prices to rise even further, with the record potentially broken before today's final.

"At the moment, the top price of a pair of tickets stands at £71,000 but we expect to see this ceiling smashed ahead of Sunday's final," the Viagogo director Ed Parkinson said.

That price does not include a booking fee of, roughly, €12,000.

The All England Lawn tennis Club – which runs and hosts Wimbledon – has said ticket demand this year had eclipsed previous years and has expressed concern regarding ticket touts selling tickets for vastly inflated sums, however Viagogo maintains it is “perfectly legal” to resell Wimbledon tickets in the UK.

Andy Murray faces Novak Djokovic in the Wimbledon Men's Singels final at 2.00 today.
