Bradley Wiggins has signed a contract extension with Team Sky that will take him through to the Paris-Roubaix race in April.

The 2012 Tour de France winner will then focus on preparing for next year's Olympic Games in Rio.

Wiggins became Britain’s first Tour winner with Team Sky three summers ago.

He now craves one of cycling’s one-day classics and, having finished ninth in last year’s Paris-Roubaix, the 34-year-old believes he can challenge for the podium in April.

“It would be incredible, but I’m not quite thinking at the moment about that,” he told Sky Sports.

“I’m just concentrating on the training and the process of getting there.

"After that I can focus fully on preparing for the Rio Olympics."
