Wigan chairman Dave Whelan has accepted a misconduct charge following comments he made about Jewish and Chinese people.

The 78-year-old has requested a non-personal hearing with the Football Association which means he will submit his defence in writing.

Whelan has already suggested he will stand down from his role with the Championship side if found guilty.
