The news that PSG are willing to splash €50 million on Chelsea's David Luiz, despite being under scrutiny for Financial Fair Play breaches, is signal enough that silly season has started in earnest.

The Big 5 of Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea are all sure to be busy over the next three mpnths. But where do fans want their clubs to strengthen?

Beat Your Manager! Fantasy Football is an app similar to “Football Manager for live football”, where you manage your favourite Club and pick lineups, bench, formations and substitutions, all in real-time. When fans play the game, the Beat Your Manager team can get a picture of the popularity of different players, by looking at how frequently they are selected for the lineup.

Liverpool

Goalkeeper Simon Mignolet is not exactly a nailed down choice for Reds' fans. 80 per cent of fans included him in their Beat Your Manager Liverpool starting lineups, which is the lowest rate among the top five sides.

It is no surprise that the men in front of Mignolet are not hugely popular with Glen Johnson the most regular member of the back four at just 83 per cent.

Liverpool fans are more secure when it comes to midfield and there are no question marks over the forward line of Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge.

Manchester City

The champions also have doubts about their defence. The full-backs are relatively stable positions for fans, but another centre-half to partner Vincent Kompany is clearly needed as the second most popular defender at the club, Martin Demichelis appeared in just 68 per cent of selections.

Like Liverpool, there is much less debate about the preferred starting strikers and midfielders, although Alvaro Negredo is not an overwhelming choice compared to Edin Dzeko.

Arsenal

The Gunners' back four and goalkeeper are the most popular in the league among fans. In midfield, Mikel Arteta makes it in to 79 per cent if fan lineups, so another defensive midfielder would be a sought-after signing.

Olivier Giroud makes it into 88 per cent of Arsenal fan lineups but the lack of competition does skew that figure.

Manchester United

Man United are likely to be the busiest this summer and central midfield is the area that fans want to improve. Aside from Juan Mata and Michael Carrick, no other United midfielders had a selection rating of more than 60 per cent.

With Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic gone, the defence will also need strengthening with the likes of Jonny Evans not polling strongly.

Chelsea

Echoing Jose Mourinho's complaints, centre-forward is the position that worries fans most with Fernando Torres, Demba Ba and Samuel Eto'o all appearing in fewer than 60 per cent of supporter lineups.
