After her straight sets win over Kiki Bertens last night, Serena Williams have won 30 consecutive Grand Slam matches.

The 33 year old completed The Serena Slam earlier this summer winning at Wimbledon and is looking to win at the US Open to complete the calendar Grand Slam. The Grand Slam has only ever been completed by Martina Navratilova, Steffi Graf and Williams on two occasions but winning all four titles in the one year is still a feat that escapes the game.

In Williams' 30 wins, she has lost nine sets and won last years US Open without conceding a set.

Her last loss in a Grand Slam came on June 28th last year when she lost to France's Alize Cornet in three sets in the third round at Wimbledon.

After the loss, Cornet told the press; "A few years ago I couldn’t play on grass but now I have beaten the world No1. It’s the biggest upset of the tournament. A dream. I cannot believe I did it myself – me! – but the tournament is not over for me."

Cornet would lose in the next round to Eugenie Bouchard, but Williams would have the last laugh going on to dominate the game ever since.
