New York host Sligo in the senior football championship today, and should the American-based side prevail, it could pose some logistical problems for Connacht GAA.

If New York win, Sligo will enter the draw for the qualifiers, which is the standard procedure for any team that gets eliminated from the provincial championship.

New York will then progress to face Mayo in the quarter-final, a fixture which is scheduled to take place on Sunday May 21st, according to the official GAA website.

Mayo are the first team to be written into that fixture, meaning they should get home advantage. But according to a spokesman for the GAA, the location of the game has yet to be determined.

Newstalk.com have been informed that the Connacht GAA will be responsible for finalising where that game will be played, as well as 'all other organisational matters surrounding the fixture.'

With additional reporting from Daniel Kelly.
