Earlier today, Aiden McGeady suggested that Neil Lennon may have felt as if there was little more to achieve at Celtic.

Having secured three league titles in a row, the Hoops had probably hit a ceiling and the 42-year-old is believed to have been concerned about his playing budget for next season.

Lennon is now being linked to jobs in England, while Celtic are being associated with a number of potential managerial candidates including David Moyes and Henrik Larsson.

Tonight we were joined by former Celtic player and assistant manager Murdo MacLeod to make sense of both parties' destinies.

"Obviously what Neil's not happy about is that they're selling big name players for a lot of money and he's not been given the money to replace them," said MacLeod, adding that crowds had fallen in the league because of the lack of competition in the SPL since Rangers' demise.

MacLeod wants a new manager who can lift the club again and build on Lennon's work.

"I know everyone's talking about the ex-Celtic players like Malky Mackay, Paul Lambert, Owe Coyle, Jackie McNamara and Henrik Larsson. Henrik, coming in, people will say he's not experienced enough but Neil Lennon didn't have any experience at all and walked in. Henrik's coached at different levels in Sweden and he'd be coming to a club where everyone loves him."
