Wexford are on something of a roll in the All Ireland hurling championship.

After seeing off Clare in a replay, the Yellow Bellies knocked Waterford out in the qualifiers to reach the quarter-final stage for the first time since 2008.

It points to a renaissance in the county and former manager Liam Griffin, who led the Model County to All Ireland glory in 1996, told us that the "team are here to stay" and "ambitious".

"They're still a team in formation, so I wouldn't get carried away. They're a team in transition and trying to grow themselves as individuals. But they're growing as people before our very eyes - as well as hurlers," he said, praising the impact of manager Liam Dunne.
