Westmeath dual player Paul Greville has called time on his 15-year inter-county career, citing time commitments as the reason behind his decision.

The 34-year-old made his debut with the Lake County's senior hurlers as a teenager in 2004 and was part of both their Christy Ring winning sides in 2005 and 2007.

The Raharney defender played a key role in Westmeath's run to the last two Joe McDonagh Cup finals and helped the Midlanders achieve promotion to Division One of the National Hurling League in 2020.

Greville has opted to stay involved with the hurling setup next season and has agreed to join new manager Shane O'Brien's backroom team.

His brothers Gary and Robbie remain, key members of the panel, while his older brother Johnny guided the county's camogie team to All-Ireland Intermediate glory in September.

Greville also represented Westmeath's gaelic footballers between 2010 and 2015 with the Killucan club man playing on their inside forward line in a side which achieved promotion from Division Four to Division One of the National Football League.

Westmeath GAA say it's a "sad day" for the county and they've thanked the veteran player for his service.
