West Ham's EFL Cup match with Chelsea had been earmarked from the time the draw was made, as a potentially dangerous match in the stands.

Those predictions came through, as numerous fans from both sides fought during West Ham's 2-1 win. The result saw the east London side advance to the quarter-finals.

Fans from both sides, broke through the segregation behind one of the goals, as security personnel struggled to contain the fans from both London clubs.

Coins and ripped-up chairs were thrown, as Chelsea and West Ham fans fought in the concourse of the Trevor Brooking Stand.

After the match, West Ham manager Slaven Bilic called the behaviour of everyone involved as "unacceptable".

Despite the incidents in the crowd, Bilic was delighted to reach the quarter-finals with the team, where they were drawn away against Manchester United.

"We played really good tonight. It was a great atmosphere, a cup game, night game, London derby, and Chelsea are a great team who have hit great form recently."

"We had a game plan and the guys executed it almost perfectly. We were great in the first half and really good in the second half and when we had to defend, we defended in numbers and we were good at keeping the ball."
