Usain Bolt overcame a bad start from the blocks to win a 100m race in Jamaica and record the second fastest time of the year at the Racers Grand Prix in Kingston.

Bolt's 9.88 winning time is second only to Frenchman Jimmy Vicaut whose time stands at 9.86. Considering that the Olympic champion was chasing fellow countrymen, Yohan Blake and Asafa Powell, his comeback is all the more remarkable.

After starting well, both Blake and Powell finished third and fourth respectively, while Nickel Ashmeade took second.

Speaking after the game, Bolt said:

"I'm happy I got a season best. It was not a perfect race but I won. I was trying to control the start but it's just one of those things. It comes, it goes."

"I think I dragged my foot too hard so it kind of propelled me forward and then I just tried to correct myself, not try to panic and just make my way through."

"The more I run, the smoother my running will become and the faster I'll get."

Bolt's good performance comes just a few weeks ahead of Jamaica's Olympic trials, which start on June 30.
