Bruno Hortelano got the shock of his life when he was informed by a reporter that he had won a gold medal via disqualification at the European Athletic Championships.

In the final of the 200m race, the Spanish athlete finished second and seemed happy with his lot when he appeared for the media and was all smiles. That was before the Dutch reporter interviewing him broke the news that the person who finished before him had been disqualified.

Disbelief was the first emotion, then he thought there was some form of translation issues and when the reporter showed him her phone and confirmed the news, he made a beeline off camera to celebrate, presumably.

We didn't see the race but based on how fast he disappeared off the camera, we think he deserves his gold medal!
