Nigel Owens let the players on the field last night know, in no uncertain terms, that he wouldn't tolerate any foul language.

The referee was in charge of the game between Dan Carter's Racing 92 and the Northampton Saints, and with the game finely poised at 9-9 in the 75th minute, players were trying to inspire their team-mates to give it everything for the last few minutes and get the win.

However, one player went a bit too far with his encouragement as he dropped an f-bomb that could clearly be heard live on television through Owens' mic.

At that point, the referee decided to step in and inform the player in question that he should mind his language, as there were children watching.

Owens followed up on Twitter to stated that while he himself has been known to drop the odd curse word, that there's a time and a place for that type of language.
