The use of the middle finger to angrily express what you might rather say in words best not repeated before the watershed dates all the way back to the ancient Greek and Roman cultures. And it's been a mainstay of modern movies for decades, as this supercut of 160 movies goes to show. 

Hollywood has no shortage of movie characters giving each other the finger, or 'flipping the bird' as our friends across the pond call it. Whether done in jest or juvenile fury, the supercut adds up to some fine cinematic moments, including some that you may well have forgotten, but which pointedly remind us of how satisfying sticking it to the main can be.
