"Always keep your eyes on the ball".
It's advice that all coaches tell their players from a young age. Whether it's football, or rugby, or cricket, or even basketball.
On Tuesday night, Cleveland Cavaliers star JR Smith decided to ignore that advice, on the way to a 118-101 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks, away from home. Smith, who won the NBA title last year with the Cavs, left the court to hug an opposing player Jason Terry.
While Smith was off the court, the Bucks scored a simple basket, when Tony Snell ran in to score unopposed.
The win increased the Bucks' lead to three point on their way to a crucial and unexpected win. After 16 games they now have an 8-8 record, compared to the Cavaliers' 13-3.
Speaking to the press after the loss, Smith admitted that he "didn't even know he was in the game".
