Erin Hills hosts its first US Open this week.

The Wisconsin course will host a men's professional tournament for the first time, having only been opened in 2006.

While the competitors seem impressed by the course, they are not happy with the layout the United States Golf Association (USGA) have created, particularly with the rough.

On Monday, Kevin Na recorded a video showing how difficult the course is. Just yards away from the edge of most fairways, lies waist-high fescue that looks unplayable.

Na has played in six US Opens and had a top-ten finish last year. He is not happy with the conditions.

Speaking on Monday, Spanish golfer John Rahm described Erin Hills as "like a links golf course on steroids, everything is a little bigger."

He also commented on the Na video, which has proven to be a major talking point ahead of this weekend's tournament.

"I didn't step in it. I'm like there's no need to injure my wrist this week before I tee off."

"It really looks very penalising. Unless you get extremely lucky where you might be able to move it 120 yards, it looks like a 30-yard chip out to the fairway. I mean I think we've all seen the videos on social media that Kevin Na and other players posted. It doesn't look easy to move out of there."

"It wouldn't surprise me if someone losses a ball has to take an unplayable", Rahm concluded.

While some players may not be happy with the condition, Lee Westwood and his caddy Billy Foster made light of the situation in the best way they could.

The rough is really thick this week just off the edge of the fairway! 😂😂😂#usopen
