John Beattie is currently working with the BBC in an attempt to gather information about the impact of Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE) which is a result of repetitive blows to the head.

The 47-year-old, who was capped by Scotland A and played for Glasgow, appears unable to remember the question just seconds after he’s asked about his future.
The brain shut down is a worrying symptom of what could well be a result of CTE.
