It may only be pre-season, but the tackles were flying in during Chelsea's 1-0 win against Liverpool on Wednesday night in California.

A first-half header from Gary Cahill was enough to give Antonio Conte's side the win on front of 53,117 fans at the Rose Bowl.

The game was best remembered though for Cesc Fabregas' sending-off, after his tackle on new-signing Ragnar Klavan. Fabregas was given a straight-red card for going in high on the Estonian international.

After the game, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp confirmed that Fabregas apologised to Klavan in the dressing rooms.

Despite the tackle and claiming that "it was far from a friendly game", Klopp was happy with the intensity shown by both sides as they continue their Premier League preparations.

Both teams continue their preparations in America this weekend. Chelsea face Real Madrid in Michigan Stadium on Saturday, while in the early hours of Sunday morning Liverpool meet AC Milan in Levi's Stadium.
