A goalkeeper has never won the Puskas Award, but that could change in 2017.

Oscarine Masuluke missed the cut-off point for the 2016 award, but his bicycle goal in the South African Premier Division will be contender next year.

The goalkeeper was playing on Wednesday night for Baroka against Orlando Pirates, when he somehow scored an overhead kick in added time to draw the game 1-1.

The South African Premier Divison has not even reached the middle of the season, making Baroka's attempts to steal a point even more extraordinary. Ahead of the game, the team were four points clear of automatic relegation, but Masuluke's goal made headlines around the world.

It's difficult to beat the excitement of a goalkeeper running into the opposition box to cause chaos in the final moments of a match, but Masuluke's goal may have set a new standard.
