The world was shocked on Monday by the news of the passing of David Bowie, and among his many fans is Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger. 

The Frenchman addressed the news in his press conference on Monday ahead of the Liverpool match later this week, and talked about the impact that the musician had on both him and his generation. 

"I'm not specialist enough to assess his musical qualities," said Wenger, "but I must say the message he gave to my generation was very important, because it was after the second World War, and what I kept from his philosophical message was be strong enough to be yourself".

Wenger is among a number of public figures who have been paying their respect to the late singer, and is unlikely to be the last.
