After a couple of weeks of speculation, Arsenal finally confirmed the signing of Egyptian international Mohamed Elneny today.
The arrival from FC Basel is primarily a defensive midfielder, so goals are not the main part of his game.
But this past season for his now former Swiss club, he has already set a personal goals record.
Having scored a high of three goals in the 2014-15 season, he has already found the net five times in this campaign in all competitions.
One thing that Arsene Wenger will have noted is that he is a threat from long range, like this Europa League goal against Fiorentina in September:
Plus, the 23-year-old also scored this long-ranger domestically against FC Luzern:
Elneny adds greater cover in midfield and will compete with club captain Mikel Arteta, Mathieu Flamini and Francis Coquelin for a defensive midfield berth.
