Vincent's take Leinster title with late push

St. Vincent’s have extended the reign of Dublin football right up until the final moments of 2013, taking the Leinster club football title with a 3-12 to 3-9 win over Portlaoise in a thrilling game in O'Connor Park, Tullamore.

The Laois club led early on, going 0-4 to 0-2 ahead. Vincent’s responded with goals from Ruairi Trainor and Ciaran Dorney.

Portlaosie responded well, with two goals from Craig Rogers, including one penalty, and at the break it was level at 2-5 each.

Portlaoise took the initiative in the second half with a Brian Glynn goal and a Rogers point but a goal from Shaen Carty kept Vincent’s in the game.

The Dublin club stretched their legs in the final few moments, with Mossy Quinn and Diarmuid Conolly scoring to push them ahead as the final whistle approached. Quinn acored one more in stoppage time and the Marino club held on to be crowned Leinster champions for the fifth time.
