One look at the smouldering wreckage tells you how bad it was.

But fortunately, all Mark Webber has had to contend with is a "stinking headache" and some bruising.

The former Australian Formula 1 driver was involved in a heavy crash at a World Endurance Championship race in Sao Paulo, Brazil yesterday which led him to spend last night in a local hospital.

Webber's crash was caused when his Porsche collided with the Ferrari of Matteo Cressoni, before hitting the barrier and bursting into flame.

The ex-Red Bull, Williams and Jaguar driver left F1 at the end of last season after 12 years in the sport to take up a career in endurance racing.
