In February of this year, former Leeds and Reading defender Sam Sodje was sent off while playing for Portsmouth in League One.
The ex-Nigeria international hit Oldham Athletic's Jose Baxter in the crotch for no apparent reason, leaving the referee little choice but to show him a red card.
Thanks to a sting by The Sun on Sunday, Sodje revealed that he had deliberately struck Baxter without provocation as part of a match-fixing operation.
The 34-year-old received £70,000 for his red card. The video below shows Sodje explaining how he got himself sent off with footage of the incident.
We will be discussing the issue of match-fixing and spot-fixing on Off The Ball tonight. Tune in from 7pm.
