A group of about 1,000 Irish cycling fans have set up an 'Irish Corner' on the mythical Alpe d’Huez stage of the Tour de France this year.

Traditionally a preserve of Dutch cycling fans who have a 'Dutch Corner' on a stretch of the gruelling route, Ireland has got in on the act.

With a dash of green and gold paint on the track and fans congregated on the roadside - dressed in green and bearing tricolours and placards - it is a sight that will surely please Ireland's entrants Dan Martin and Nicolas Roche.
