The race for the Scudetto looks all but over after Juventus beat nine-man Roma last night.

It was Roma's first defeat of the season, and the 3 - 0 victory gives Juve an eight point lead over the second-placed Giallorossi and also marked the Bianconeri's 10th consecutive win

Roma's night was marred by red cards for Daniele De Rossi and Leandro Castan within the space of 60 seconds, but not for the first time it was the former's lack of discipline which caught the eye...

There was also bad news for Fiorentina's Giuseppi Rossi. The Serie A top scorer has suffered two cruciate ligament injuries to his right knee in recent years and there were fears that he may have potentially suffered a third during La Viola's 1 - 0 win over Livorno with Leandro Rinaudo blamed for the tackle.

The ex-Man United striker has been diagnosed with a sprained medial collateral ligament. It will keep him out of action for an indeterminate amount of time but fortunately the injury is not as severe as first thought.

Napoli overcame Sampdoria by a 2 - 0 scoreline to keep hold of third spot and Dries Merten's scored a brilliant free-kick... 

AC Milan also got back to winning ways but while Kaka stole the headlines with a double that saw him surpass a landmark of 100 goals in the red and white shirt, teenage academy graduate Bryan Cristante also found the net with a fine strike...

Germany's Miroslav Klose scored the only goal of the game with a well-taken volley as his Lazio side beat Inter Milan...

 

La Liga

Barcelona left out Lionel Messi but Alexis Sanchez stepped up to steal the show in a 4 - 0 win over Elche. The Chilean has a habit of playing well when Messi is not involved and netted a hat-trick to make him Barca's joint top scorer along with Pedro who also scored once. Sanchez' inch-perfect free-kick was the pick of the bunch...

Alleged Man United transfer target Koke scored Atletico Madrid's only goal at Malaga as they remained joint-top with Barca...

The match was slightly marred by these amateur theatrics from Malaga pro Wellington...

And Real Madrid kept within five points of the leaders with Cristiano Ronaldo finding the net in a 3 - 0 win over Celta Vigo...

While Real Sociedad beat Athletic Bilbao in the Basque derby, Villarreal kept themselves in the hunt for a Champions League spot by triumphing in a seven goal thriller at Rayo Vallencano.

Kalu Uche scored a hat-trick and here is one of his goals...
