Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has announced his retirement from international football.
The 34-year-old won 114 caps during his England career and also captained his country at Euro 2012 and the 2014 World Cup.
"It's something I've been contemplating for a long time, not just since the end of the World Cup. It's been tough. It's swung both ways at times," said Gerrard.
"I feel I've made the right decision. I haven't made my decision on the back of the World Cup. I've made my decision on my age and body."
Gerrard made his debut against Ukraine in 2000, making his first tournament appearance at Euro 2012.
He went on to represent England at six major tournaments, scoring 21 goals during his international career.
