Actor Patrick Stewart may be more well known for his role in Star Trek and his portrayal of Professor X in the X Men series, but what is less well known is his role in the fight against domestic violence.

At sci-fi convention, Comicpalooza, when asked what about his produest achievement outside of acting, Stewart cited his work with UK charity Refuge and Amnesty International.

But he also detailed his mother's experiences of domestic violence at the hands of his father, before his speech ended with an impromptu but touching hug from a lady in the audience.
