But today, ahead of an exhibition game in Pyongyang, the former Chicago Bulls player sang 'Happy Birthday' to his friend, North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un.
The 52-year-old is in the secretive state, along with seven ex-NBA players, to organize and play in an exhibition match, in what has been dubbed "basketball diplomacy".
