US Open: Rafael Nadal makes history under the Arthur Ashe roof

The Arthur Ashe Stadium finally got an opportunity to use its roof last night as Rafael Nadal moved into the Third Round.

Nadal, along with Andreas Seppi were the first two players to play under the roof as the US Open joined the Australian Open and Wimbledon in having roofs on their main courts. 

The Spaniard won the game in straight sets. It finished 6-0, 7-5, 6-1.

In the men's draw, there were also wins for Novak Djokovic, Milos Raonic and former champion Marin Cilic. Djokovic had a walkover against Jiri Vesely. Milos Raonic defeated Jack Harrison in four sets, while Cilic comfortably defeated Sergiy Stakhovsky in straight sets.

Angelique Kerber and Garbine Muguruza, the women's second and third seeds both advanced to the third round. The duo had both straight sets wins against Mirjana Lucic-Baroni and Anastasija Sevastova respectively.

The biggest shock of Day Three in the women's draw came when the former World number one Caroline Wozniacki. The unseeded Dane defeated ninth seed Svetlana Kuznetsova.

On Day Four, Andy Murray, Stanislas Wawrinka, Juan Martin Del Potro and Serena and Venus Williams are all in action.
